Heirloom Sound creates original, professionally crafted songs that capture your family's story, a loved one's essence, or a milestone that deserves more than a photograph.
A photograph captures a moment. A song captures a soul.
Heirloom Sound transforms memory into music — beginning not at the piano, but in conversation. Jamie sits with you, listens deeply, and earns your trust before a single note is written. Only when your story is truly known does the music begin. Crafted to be passed down for generations.
"A song made for someone is the most intimate gift one human can give another." Jamie Hughes, Heirloom Sound
Jamie sits with you — away from the piano, away from any agenda — and simply listens. Through guided questions and unhurried conversation, trust is built and your story begins to surface.
Jamie goes to the piano. Drawing from your sessions together, melody, lyrics, and arrangement take shape. You receive a song brief for approval before composition continues.
The song is composed, arranged, and recorded to the standard of your commission tier. You receive a demo, then revisions, then a final master.
Your finished song — professionally produced — is delivered in archival-quality formats, with a keepsake package and full licensing across generations.
Every Heirloom Sound commission is entirely bespoke and fully inclusive — story-capture, composition, production, and travel, all held to a single, considered price.
Some stories ask for a single, perfect song — composed, professionally recorded, and delivered as a lasting keepsake. Jamie begins not at the piano, but in conversation, meeting your family wherever the story lives.
Over two days on-site, Jamie conducts story sessions with the people who matter most, gathers ambient recordings, photographs, and home videos, then returns home to write and produce. The finished song is recorded with hired session musicians, professionally mixed and mastered, and delivered with a full keepsake package.
Optional: a private piano lesson to learn and perform your own song, available upon request.
For families who want the fuller story told — not just one voice, but many. The Heritage Collection extends the story session across up to three days, with multiple family members, multiple locations, and time enough for the quieter details to surface.
The recording is elevated with live strings and, where the song calls for it, a featured vocalist — tracked in a professional studio, not a home setup. What's delivered is a hardbound keepsake book holding the full story and lyrics, and a vinyl pressing in archival packaging, meant to sit on a shelf for generations rather than a hard drive.
Optional: a private piano lesson to learn and perform your own song, available upon request.
The fullest expression of what Heirloom Sound offers, reserved for milestone occasions — an 80th birthday, an anniversary, a memorial — where the delivery of the song is meant to be a moment in itself, not just a recording someone plays later.
Alongside everything in the Heritage Collection, a short documentary is made of the story-capture process itself, and the finished song is not simply delivered — it is performed live, in person, at an event of your choosing, by Jamie and, where appropriate, the same hired musicians who recorded it. Every collaborator on the project — songwriter, producer, string arranger, mix engineer, mastering engineer, visual designer — is drawn from Heirloom Sound's Signature Team, the same trusted collaborators across every Legacy Experience commission.
Live Musicians — your recording features real musicians, strings, vocalist, or rhythm section, tracked in a professional studio. This is what elevates the recording itself.
Travel is never itemized or billed separately. It is built into every commission's price — Jamie comes to you, wherever your story is. You're asked only to be available; the rest is arranged in advance.
Every song is written from scratch — no templates, no libraries. Yours is the only song like it in the world.
Studio-quality production with hired musicians where the tier calls for it — not a demo, a finished master you'll be proud to share for decades.
A beautifully designed printed lyric sheet — suitable for framing, gifting, or including in a family archive.
Your family holds a perpetual personal-use license — play it, share it, pass it to grandchildren forever. Jamie retains copyright, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.
Your story and your family's details are held in strict confidence. Nothing is shared or used commercially without explicit permission.
You work with Jamie from the first conversation to final delivery — no intermediaries, no delegation, her complete attention throughout.
An original Heirloom Sound composition by Jamie Hughes.
David told me about his family
his granddad took a boat from Italy,
he fled the war, cause he wanted more,
for his wife and child, who left a bit later
a risky chance for something greater
but they'd meet again just like long, lost friends.
Something told them, to get out while you can
Ain't it amazing how we all got here.
We all come from Somewhere.
I told him I was 12th generation
the first family who arrived to this nation
back in 1638, I think I'd call it fate.
How one would sail from Bristol, England
to a land of the native indian
and begin anew, looking back, who knew
They sacrificed what they could for the good.
For you and I, I'm amazed to hear each pioneer had,
I sat next to a man at the station
he spoke of love and salvation
his parents passed, he was to say his last
words to them, of all they gave him.
He took a breath and took it all in.
He began to cry cause he knew why.
We All Come From Somewhere.
