A photograph captures a moment. A song captures a soul.
Heirloom Sound transforms memory into music — beginning not at the piano, but in conversation. Jamie sits with you, listens deeply, and earns your trust before a single note is written. Only when your story is truly known does the music begin. Crafted to be passed down for generations.
"A song made for someone is the most intimate gift one human can give another." — Jamie Hughes, Heirloom Sound
Original melodies. Handcrafted lyrics. Archival recordings. These are songs composed entirely for the people who commissioned them — each an irreplaceable expression of a singular story, realised with complete devotion to the craft.
Every Heirloom Sound commission is entirely bespoke — shaped around you, your family, your story. What follows is a guide, not a formula. Jamie will work with you to determine what your story truly needs.
Some stories ask for a single, perfect song. Something intimate. Something that captures one person, one chapter, one feeling — and holds it there forever.
Jamie begins not at the piano, but in conversation. You meet wherever you are most comfortable — your home, a quiet hotel lobby, a place that feels like yours. She asks questions. She listens. She asks more questions. Over time, themes emerge, words surface, and a song begins to take shape from the inside out.
The Keepsake commission includes one original song — lyrics and melody composed entirely from your story. Jamie records a professional piano and vocal performance, and delivers a lead sheet so the music can be learned, played, and passed on. One round of revisions ensures the song is exactly what it should be.
Optional: A private piano lesson to learn and perform your own song — available upon request.
For those who understand that a story this important deserves to be heard, not just remembered. The Heritage commission is a fully produced, studio-quality song — the kind that plays at a dinner table and makes everyone go quiet.
Jamie meets with you across multiple sessions — first alone, then with family, then wherever the story leads. There is no set agenda. She comes back. Together you edit, refine, revisit. Some songs arrive quickly. Others reveal themselves slowly. Jamie follows the story, not a schedule.
When the lyrics are ready, the piano enters. The arrangement takes shape — sometimes Jamie leading, sometimes the client beside her, sometimes both finding the melody together. The recording is produced and a full mix and master delivered — along with a framed lyric print, a CD single with bespoke cover art, and a piano and vocal sheet music arrangement so the music can be played by anyone in your family for generations.
Optional: A private piano lesson to learn and perform your own song — available upon request.
A complete musical portrait. Three chapters, one legacy. For the life that cannot be told in a single song.
The Legacy commission is the fullest expression of what Heirloom Sound offers. Jamie works with you, your family, and your loved ones across as many sessions as the story requires — in your home, at a piano, over time. No deadline drives the process. The work is finished when it is right.
The result is a suite of two to three original songs, each capturing a distinct chapter of the story — the sacrifice, the journey, the arrival, the love that held it all together. Each song is fully produced, mixed, and mastered. Each receives its own piano and vocal sheet music arrangement. Each is delivered in a handcrafted physical keepsake box, alongside framed lyric prints and archival recordings on vinyl or CD.
Revisions are unlimited. The commission is complete only when you feel it in your chest.
Optional: Private piano lessons to learn and perform your songs — available upon request.

David told me about his family
his granddad took a boat from Italy,
he fled the war,
cause he wanted more, for his
wife and child, who left a bit later
a risky chance for something greater
but they'd meet again
just like long, lost friends.
Something told them, to get out while you can
Ain't it amazing how we all got here.
We all come from Somewhere.
I told him I was 12th generation
the first family who arrived to this nation
back in 1638
I think I'd call it fate.
How one would sail from Bristol, England
to a land of the native indian
and begin anew
looking back, who knew
Something told them, to move on while you can
Ain't it amazing how we all got here.
We all come from Somewhere.
We all come from Somewhere.
They sacrificed
what they could for the good.
For you and I
I'm amazed to hear each pioneer had,
Something tell them, to move on while you can
Ain't it amazing how we all got here.
We all come from Somewhere.
We all come from Somewhere.
I sat next to a man at the station
he spoke of love and salvation
his parents passed,
he was to say his last
words to them, of all they gave him.
He took a breath and took it all in.
He began to cry
cause he knew why.
Something told him, that love got him here.
It's just amazing each story that we hear.
We All Come From Somewhere.
We All Come From Somewhere.
We All Come From Somewhere.
We All Come From Somewhere.
We All Come From Somewhere.
